The City of Baltimore Department of Planning is excited to help guide the City of Baltimore further into the new millennium! First in November 2006, we started with the adoption of LIVE EARN PLAY LEARN: A Business Plan for a World Class City. Now we continue with the implementation of the plan with TransForm Baltimore: The Zoning Code Rewrite, The Sustainability Master Plan, and a City of Baltimore first...online review and commenting!
TransForm Baltimore is a city-wide effort to develop a state-of-the-art zoning code that features new and more effective zoning tools. The ultimate goal of TransForm Baltimore is the adoption of a new zoning code that successfully supports and guides City investment, enhances and protects neighborhood
character, and guides private development. To create a state of the art zoning code, TransForm Baltimore is seeking to gather input from all interested citizens and stakeholders who are concerned about the future of
the City of Baltimore. The process includes this online consultation tool.
Baltimore City has defined sustainability as “meeting the environmental, social, and economic needs of Baltimore without compromising
the ability of future generations to meet those needs.” To systematically address such issues, the Office of Sustainability
was established by the Mayor and City Council in September 2007. The Office of Sustainability is charged with coordinating
City, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and private efforts toward sustainability goals. One of the main functions of
the Office of Sustainability is to work with the Sustainability Commission to develop and implement a sustainability master
plan.
